MEET REPRESENTATIVE STAN GERDES
A 5th generation Texan, Stan Gerdes was born and raised in Central Texas. After high school, Stan attended college at The University of Texas, where he met his wife, Samantha, on the first day of class.
Prior to Stan’s election to the Smithville City Council and the Texas House, he worked with Governor Rick Perry for over a decade – beginning when he was Governor of Texas, and throughout his time as Secretary of Energy, where they were able to achieve U.S. Energy Independence for the first time in nearly 60 years. As Senior Advisor to Secretary Perry in the Trump administration, Stan led an extensive team to organize and manage every aspect of the Secretary’s agenda – including travel to all 17 national labs, and to over 25 countries promoting American energy solutions abroad so our allies would be less reliant on hostile nations.
During his first two legislative sessions, Representative Gerdes has delivered real conservative results for the people of House District 17. He passed the largest property tax cut in American history, secured billions for border security, and increased funding for rural law enforcement. He supported strong bail reform, protected children from gender modification procedures and explicit content, and backed legislation to stop China and other foreign adversaries from buying Texas land. He also helped create the Texas Water Fund to safeguard our state’s most vital resource. Representative Gerdes continues to stand firm for life, liberty, and the Second Amendment, keeping Texas strong and free.
Stan is a Camp Longhorn alumnus and a lifetime member of the Texas Exes, the Dallas Safari Club and the National Rifle Association. Stan’s wife, Samantha, is an accomplished attorney and conservative leader with over 15 years of experience navigating complex legal, regulatory, and political challenges for a nationally recognized firearms manufacturer. She is a member of the Junior League of Austin, a founding board member and Vice Chair of the Bastrop County Young Republicans, and serves on the executive board of the Capitol Republican Women.
Stan and Samantha are proud graduates of The University of Texas and reside in Smithville, Texas with their son.
