CONSERVATIVE STAN GERDES ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR RE-ELECTION

Republican State Representative Stan Gerdes, who is now in his first term serving Texas State House District 17, has announced he will seek reelection in next year’s Texas elections. District 17 serves Bastrop, Burleson, Caldwell, Lee, and Milam Counties.

During his first term, Gerdes focused his efforts on passing the largest property tax cut in history, protecting the border by adding $5.1 billion to state enforcement programs while designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations, increasing funding for rural law enforcement, and funding the creation of new water supply infrastructure to help Texas farmers, ranchers, businesses, and homeowners.

Gerdes also contributed to legislation that helps retired teachers, supports the 2nd Amendment, makes elections more honest, protects students at school, and puts a stop to woke priorities like drag shows and gender modification for kids.

The Texas economy and Texas agriculture have been shaking off the national economic slowdown and instead are setting records. The only thing holding us back would be to fail to plan properly for our infrastructure needs.

“Trying to move a huge state like Texas in the right direction as we compete against other states and the rest of the world is not easy,” said Gerdes. “But I rely on my free-market values and the hard work of people who want to build a better Texas for their children and grandchildren.”

Gerdes became the first freshman House member to pass legislation out of the House this year when he passed HB 1486, a bill to provide 911 operators a mental health leave policy if they experience a traumatic event on the job.

In all, Gerdes passed 13 bills through the Texas House, seven of which have been signed into law. Gerdes served on three House committees: Energy Resources, County Affairs, and Resolutions Calendars.

Gerdes was a founding member of the Texas Water Caucus, and the Texas Nuclear Energy Caucus, and was named “Freshman of the Year” by the Nuclear Caucus.
